Property situated in a picturesque village next to Rositsa River. According the legends the village was formed immediately after the fall of Bulgaria under the Ottoman yoke. The roots of the village as a populated area are likely to date from ancient times and are related to ancient town of Nicopolis ad Istrum,situated by Rositsa River and founded in 106 AC by the Emperor Trajan in honor of its victory. Drinking water from Peshterska Spring had been taken in an underground channel to the city.

The Municipality

Pavlikeni Municipality is situated in the North Central Region of the country. It occupies the west central part of the Veliko Tarnovo district and borders the municipalities of Veliko Tarnovo, Svishtov, Polski Trambesh, Sevlievo, Souhindol and Levski. Its area is 609.3 sq. m, which constitutes 13.1% of the district`s territory. The municipality comprises 2 towns – Pavlikeni and Byla cherkva, and 18 villages. More than 52% of municipality population is concentrated in these two towns.

The District

Veliko Tarnovo Region is situated in North- Central Bulgaria. It is bounded north by the Danube River and south by the Balkan Mountains. It also borders the regions of Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Targovishte and Ruse, and over the Danube it borders Romania.

The relief in the region is diverse – there are lowlands, hilly plains, river valleys and heights of the fore-Balkan Mountains, parts of the central Balkans. The Yantra is the largest and high water river in the region. Some other big rivers are Yantra`s tributaries – the Rositza and Dryanovo Rivers. Well-developed is the stockbreeding sector. The reserves of Haydushki Chukar (“Haidouk Crags”) and Byalata Krava (“White Cow”) are located in the Balkan Mountains of Elena. There are 140 cultural monuments of national significance within the area of Veliko Tarnovo Region.
