Description:
Item ID: 480
Price: 8 200 €
Land: 2000 sq. m.
Location: Bulgaria, near Svishtov, Veliko Tarnovo
Property situated in a very picturesque village with long and interesting history. The village is part of Veliko Tarnovo District, and offers all the basic utilities such as a post-office, several shops, pubs, cafes, etc. A regular bus transport to the surronding towns is also provided.
The property shown is located near the village' center. It is a solid, brick-built, single-storeyed house. The ground floor comprises of three rooms and a big corridor. As there is plenty of space bricking-up inner bathroom would be no problem. There is an attic having the same floorage as the ground floor, which is an opportunity of turning it into additional living area.
Underneath the house is the cellar. It could be used by its original purpose- as a storage, or it could easily be transformed into anything else (a nice authentic tavern or a winery for example).
Outside the house is the yard. Spreading over 2000 sq.m. of land, it provides numerous opportunities. Adding a swimming pool could be easily done. This would bring much more charm and value to the property. There are beautiful flower and fruit gardens, lots of fruit trees and trellis vines. At the moment a big part of the land is used for growing corn.
Most of the Bulgarian rural houses have lots of farm-buildings. This one does not make an exception. There are a barn, a granary, big two-storeyed hay-loft, pigsties, penthouse and hen-houses. All these could be used by their original purpose, or could easily be transformed into anything else (e.g. Additional living area, playing rooms, workshops, BBQ area, etc.).
The property is located on the corner of the village's main street and another smaller street. A huge advantage of the estate is the presence of a big garage, providing space for two cars. Another plus is the big double-sized iron gate, giving the chance of parking up to four more cars in the yard.
Water and electricity are connected to mains, Cable TV and Internet could easily be provided. There are water fountains inside the house and outside in the yard. For more comfort the property would naturally need some renovation work.
About the village
The village of Alekovo is located in Central North Bulgaria, seven kilometers away from the International road I 3 and 30 kilometers from Svishtov and the Danube River. Quiet and peaceful, with population of about 700 people, it spreads between the folds of the Danube Plain. The soil is extremely generous which is why most of the local people work in the agriculture.
The village's old name was „arkchar“ which translated from turkish means „white soil“. After Bulgarian's liberation from the ottomans the village was named after one of the greatest bulgarian writers- Aleko Konstantinov.
Alekovo has a very ancient history and proofs for a Roman settlement there had been found at the late XIXth century. Besides the Romans there was an old thracian village, contributing for the long and very interesting history of the village.
