Punta Paloma is just five minutes away from Sotogrande, Estepona 10 minutes, Puerto Banus 20 minutes and Marbella 30 minutes. There is some fabulous wind surfing to be enjoyed down in Tarifa, about 40 minutes away.

Many road signs in southern Spain welcome visitors to the Costa del Sol, many more still to the Costa del Golf and with good reason. The area is world-renowned for its golf courses, with over forty in the area. But its not all about golf, there are many alternative open-air sports to enjoy such as sailing, horse riding, swimming, polo, hill walking and if you want to go skiing then Punta Paloma is only two hours away from the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The marinas at La Duquesa and Sotogrande are home not only to modest and luxury yachts, but also boutique shopping, restaurants, bars, banks and clinics as well as the new Sotomarket shopping centre.

Water sports are a way of life in Southern Spain with a warm season that starts in April and last well into October. Easily accessible, long clean beaches (some 8km long), bearing the internationally recognised Blue Flag of cleanliness and quality, have all the amenities you would want. From windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, diving and sailing boat hire to somewhere agreeable to enjoy a drink or meal after your exertions. It's all here, often right on the beach.
