With its idyllic temperatures - The Algarve is ideal fro summer and winter holidays: With average temperature in winter of 14°C and 24°C - 57°F and 75°F - in summer, rarely going below 12°C - 53°F- during winter and reaching as high as 28°C or 30°C - 82°F or 86° F - in July and August, which are ideal for playing golf and other sports.

Lagos is surrounded by 7 special sandy beaches, of which the most famous beach with beautiful red rock formations is Ponta da Piedade. Another lovely beach surrounded by dunes is Meia Praia, close to the city centre; it stretches out for many kilometres along the bay of Lagos.

Lagos itself was built on gentle hills, the grand boulevard runs along the whole city centre, with views over the magnificent bay and the marina. The historical city centre is almost completely as it used to be and has many beautiful old buildings and is surrounded by 800 year old city walls. The city has a relaxed atmosphere with its many little café's, bars and restaurants, the locals make you feel welcome and are always helpful and friendly.
