Uzumlu

The attractive rural village of Uzumlu is approximately 15 kilometres from the coastal market town of Fethiye. The nearest airport is Dalaman, 60 kilometres from Uzumlu and is well served by tourist charter flights and by Turkish Airways.

The Village name translates 'White Grapes' and its vines produce a wide variety of grapes. This beautiful green area boasts charm and local village culture; it still remains an old working village replying on agriculture and crafts. In the centre of Uzumlu is a square bordered by home produced shops, a post office, mosque and a tea house, the atmosphere oozes wonderful Turkish tradition. You can see women weaving cotton on old pedal looms outside their tiny houses. There are a number of restaurants with an excellent wine bar offering local wines and food. There are no new buildings in this little village, so it maintains its own unique identity, which it has maintained for many years. Dolmus is the bus service in Turkey and the buses go from Uzumlu into the main town of Fethiye and to Olundeniz beach, for those wishing to explore the surrounding area.
