Joppolo is a municipality in the Province of Vibo Valentia in the Italian region Calabria, located about 30 km southwest of Lamezia Airport and about 10km south of Tropea. Tropea
Tropea stands on an imposing sandstone cliff, in a charming position between the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia and Gioia Tauro, and is one of the most artistically interesting and picturesque centers in the Vibo Valentia province. The area stills holds traces of ancient prehistoric settlements, alongside buildings and burial passages dating back to Greek and Roman times.

Nowadays Tropea is an exclusive seaside resort that also boasts a modern tourist and fishing harbour. The town also has one of the prettiest and best-preserved historic centers in the region. It would be reductive to talk about Tropea without making reference to the beautiful coast that encircles it: the “Costa degli Dei”. If the country was defined as the “pearl of Tirreno”, the coast is the ideal ring on which it is placed. Such association is so obvious that often the places of the coast are called “Tropea”, nearly to identify all the zone comprending the tyrrenic wrap from Joppolo to Pizzo. Tropea “lends” her name and the coast her beautiful landscapes.

Nicotera has an extraordinary patrimony, that of natural beauty, ancient history, culture, traditions and magnificent artistic and archaeological beauty, a town with a beautiful twist of narrow lanes, steps and open areas. Thanks to its position on the Tirrean Sea, Nicotera still conserves natural environments and tastes from a sea that has baptized myths and history. Ancient Nicotera, an important city of the magna-Greek period lays on one side of a hill overlooking the Port of Gioia Tauro. The historical centre of Nicotera can be found at the base of the Norman Castle in which one can find the natural Archaeological Museum which exhibits numerous pieces of valuable art.
