It is located at a latitude of 32.81667 (32°49') north and at a longitude of 16.9 (16°') weste, being at an altitude of 243 metros. It is connected to Santana city by a main regional road.

Bordering São Jorge is the Altantic Ocean to the north and Mountains to the south. To the west is the neighbourhood of Arco de São Jorge and to the east the neighbourhoods of Ilha e city of Santana.

Half of São Jorge is mainly forest, the Laurissilva Forest (considered a UNESCO world heritage nature site ).The population´s main activity is agriculture.

New in Santana is a Sá supermarket and existing are medical centres and public transportation.

The Trip to Funchal will take approximately 35 – 40 minutes by automobile and 20-25 minutes to Santa Catarina International Airport.
